Twenty Bookish Questions Tag

I felt like writing a quick post, so I found this tag over in the Readaholics Goodreads group. Someone came up with twenty (technically nineteen) questions about reading habits, and I thought it would be fun to answer them. Here we go!

How many books are too many books in a book series?

I would have to go with anything over seven unless it is a really well-loved author. Even then, a series beyond four has me struggling to keep up and finish.

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

Not really a fan, especially if I have to wait years for the next books to be released. I am perfectly fine with several storylines not being tied up, but clear clickbait cliffhangers are annoying.

Hardcopy or paperback?

I have a whole post about this, but I love mass market paperbacks.

Favorite book?

Lord of the Rings

Least favorite book?

Several books I read for my English Lit degree, but otherwise, a childhood “classic” Hatchet comes to mind. I also strongly dislike many others.

Love triangles, yes or no?

If done well, I don’t mind them. But if it affects plot points too often, no.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

I put down about four young adult books recently. The most recent was One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake.

A book you’re currently reading?

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence. Finally!

Last book you recommended to someone?

A Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I actually lent it to her… a rare thing for me to do.

Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

According to Goodreads and a quick Google, Gilgamesh.

Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Favorite author?

Brandon Sanderson and J.R.R. Tolkien

Buying books or borrowing books?

Both. If it’s an author or a subject I know I’ll enjoy (or just adult fantasy usually), I buy if I have the funds. If it’s young adult, non-fiction, or an unknown subject/author, I borrow from my library.

A book you dislike that everyone else seem to love?

I did a post about this as well. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

Bookmarks always. I have a favorite one.

A book you can always reread?

Harry Potter

Can you read while hearing music?

No, I need complete silence or I can’t focus properly.

One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views)

Depends on the story being told. I don’t have a preference.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Depends on the book and the length. I have read books in one sitting, but nowadays I tend to read a little each night before bed.

Who do you tag to do these questions?

Anyone who is interested.
